CONGRATULATIONS TO RAY McKAIN, OUR 2022 CLUB CHAMPION!

On a nice October day, 14th seeded Ray McKain outlasted #5 seed Greg Rogers at Diamond Ridge. Ray jumped out to an early lead taking advantage of Greg’s opening jitters. Carpooling, he arrived at the course well before he normally does after the first group tees off, Greg was out-of-sorts & stumbled to go down by 3 after 5 holes played. Regaining his composure, Greg whittled away at his deficit while Ray spent those holes speaking rather sternly to his golf ball, ending the front 9 back to even.

Finding his mojo again, Ray began the back 9 strong, regaining his earlier lead going 3-up after 4. Greg got the next one back but the former champ ran out of runway halving the next 3 holes. Ray closed out the match on the 17th, 2 up with 1 to go, taking home his first club championship victory and first for his former club, City Wide. When asked what happened on the front late holes, Ray stated he wasn’t sure he had a place for the 2-foot tall traveling trophy and lost focus.
